Access to Authoring Tool by clicking on Tools > Authoring Tool.

Home is the welcome page displayed by default when opening the application. There are several widgets available that show updated information about the application:

  • Summary: information about the published tests and tests currently in progress.
  • Questions by status: total number of questions written in the different workflow stages of the test.
  • Question by type: number of questions created, sorted by their type.
  • Test by Category: information about the number of tests linked to each category created.

Summary

In this section, you can see a circular percentage chart with information about the published tests (Published) and tests currently in progress (Writing), saved as draft.

You can also see other global figures about the tests and the questions in Global Stats, like the number of tests and questions created, and the average number of questions/tests. The above image shows that this organization has created 34 tests (published or writing), 781 questions, and each test has an average of 22.97 questions/test.

Question by Status

In this section, you can see the total number of questions written in the different workflow stages of the test. In this context, a workflow is a revision process a question goes through before being available for the test.

Although some stages may be omitted depending on the context, the usual workflow of a test is the following:

Content writing > Review > Technical review > Publishing

First, create a test in the Tests tab to build the framework for your content. Then, write questions for your test in the Questions tab. Last,  publish it using the Publish button in the Tests window. You can add or remove questions in your test if needed. Questions are numbered automatically when they are created. You can see all of them in the Questions tab in the Questions window.

Questions by Type

Displays the number of questions created, sorted by their type:

Test by Category

Displays information about the number of tests linked to each category created. To sort the tests created, you can create different categories.

In a nutshell: a category is the topic to which a test is related.

A test must always be linked to a category:
