This is a cognitive model consisting of four levels. DOK categorizes tasks according to the complexity of thinking required to successfully complete the task. (please note that complexity is different from difficulty).
There are four levels:
- Recall and Reproduction: Learners must recall or reproduce knowledge or skills.
- Skill and Concepts: Learners must demonstrate skills by applying several concepts (basic inferences, summarizing, estimating, and categorizing).
- Short-term strategic thinking: Learners should utilize short-term strategic thinking skills (questions with several alternative outcomes, addressing real-world situations).
- Extended thinking: learners should engage in critical thinking and synthesize information from multiple sources.
IMPORTANT. Some of these levels may be incompatible with the Bloom’s Taxonomy levels:
